• Do you fail to make time each day to read the word of God?
• Do you fail to dedicate time each day for prayer to God?
• Do you find yourself constantly saying curse words?
• Do you have sex outside of marriage? Do you believe this is right?
• Do you use the Lord God’s name in vain?
• Would you vote for a President that is pro-abortion and pro-homosexuality? Do you believe this is right?
• Do you share your faith with others each day? Do you hinder others sharing the gospel?
• Do you practice sin on a regular basis?
• Do the cares and worries of this world dominate most of your thoughts and conversations?
• Do you “Love” the things of this world more than God’s word?
• Do you find yourself too busy for Jesus Christ? What are your top three priorities in life?
• Do you seek worldly wealth and pleasures over seeking first the kingdom of God?
• Do you fail to obey Jesus and his word on a consistent basis?
• Do you find yourself filled with anger toward your fellow man?
• Are you indifferent about your sin?
• Do you make a major effort in keeping the Ten Commandments?
• Have you got love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control?

Here are some synonyms for the word “Lukewarm.”

Lacking enthusiasm or conviction; tepid; mild; half-hearted; hesitant ; subdued; uncommitted; unresponsive; indifferent; languid; phlegmatic; apathetic; nonchalant, and the list continues.

The Laodiceans, though they had the ability and the resources, were complacent, self-satisfied, and indifferent to the real issues of life. Their faith had become stale and their creature comforts were of higher importance than doing the work of the Lord. Sound familiar at all? Now to answer the question that has been going around in my mind. Are we falling away into Laodicea?

Historic Laodicea

The Lukewarm "Christian" Church of Laodicea –Rev 3:14-22
¹⁴“And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans, write, these things says the Amen, the Faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God: ¹⁵“I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. ¹⁶So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, will vomit you out of my mouth. ¹⁷Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— ¹⁸I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. ¹⁹As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. ²⁰Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. ²¹To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. ²²“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”
